Anger Management Skills

  • Posted by Ceri Jones on September 30, 2010 at 2:35 pm

Many professionals, so-called experts, philosophers and the rest, tell us about anger and anger management skills, but do they give you the full story? There are people all over the world with anger issues, some mild, some extreme and some which are within the normal bounds of the emotion of anger.

We are told about all the problems of anger, which include kicking, fighting, slapping, verbally abusing, physically abusing and mentally abusing. We hear reports from around the world about the many episodes related to violence in crime. Finally, we hear many stories about how to deal with anger using anger management skills.

However, anger is a feeling that acts on impulses. Anger is a good thing, until it becomes uncontrollable. This happens when a person feels discontented and reacts to the impulses of his or her emotions radically. However, there are some people who get angry just because they keep putting things off.

You can see it in an example with a person that gets angry with a cable company. Let’s say that this person has been dealing for more than three months with issues involving a cable company, herself and a third party. This person was paying a bill which included channels ordered by another person, but the company refused to give her a selection of channels that she had ordered in her own name.

She went through a series of processes, and finally, after she had done as instructed, the company advised her that she would have to pay for what had already passed. In other words, she would have to pay for all the channels on the bill, only some of which she had ordered. Now, she was in no position to do much about it since she did not live at the address. Finally, she blew her top and told the company off, walking quickly out the main entrance, mumbling you stupid bloody idiots.

This person was pushed to anger and this happens too many times in society these days, yet the world only sees the angry persons. We can look at other theories about anger and anger management skills, and see that the blanks are not filled in. When a person has an anger issue, he or she does not necessarily have that problem everyday. Rather, in most instances the person builds up to the point of exploding.

Often a person will go for a week, month, or even longer before they explode in anger. If the person has mental illness, alcohol or drug problems, this contributes to the anger issues, however in many cases the person does not get too angry every day.

So, we can see that not only do we need to learn anger management skills to contain anger; we also must teach people to deal with each problem as it happens. Procrastination comes in many forms and it includes putting off emotional issues until they are too hot to cope with. Many violent people often have a dangerous mental illness underlying their anger. Many people that are angry because of procrastination have a degree of control, and it usually does not lead to anger.

However if a person is pushed hard enough this may occur. Anger is involved with the process of expressing emotions, however when a person is angry they may have difficulty relating to the underlying reason for the anger, which means that they have poor anger management skills.

Acne Is Not The Same As Spots

There are several different kinds of acne, depending on how or why the acne developed. Some of the types of acne are: acne conglobata (chronic boils); acne fulminans (an extreme form of conglobata); acne cosmetica (caused by cosmetics); acne keloidalis nuchae (from shaving); acne medicamentosa (caused by starting or stopping a medication); acne rosacea (redness on the face); baby acne; hormonal acne; cloracne and the common variety, acne vulgaris (also known as ‘puberty spots’). In this article, we will concentrate on acne vulgaris.

Acne vulgaris may be defined as: ‘an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots or zits’ (according to Wikipedia).

Acne is most often found in white Western teenagers, although it does occur in every country in the world, so there may be a genetic weakness to it. It is possible that it may be an abnormal reaction to fairly normal levels of testosterone. For most afflicted, outbreaks of acne last only until adulthood, probably only a few years or at the most ten. For other people, however, it may be a life-long affliction. It usually affects the face, upper-chest, upper-arms and back. However, an occasional spot does not constitute acne.

Acne vulgaris appears in various forms, which include: whiteheads, caused by pores which are totally blocked, trapping sebum (oil), bacteria, and dead skin cells, resulting in a white spot on the surface; blackheads, resulting from pores which are only partially blocked, allowing some of the trapped sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells to slowly drain to the surface (the black colour is not a result of dirt, but is a reaction of the skin’s own pigment, called melanin, with the oxygen in the air); papules, which are inflamed, red, tender lumps with no head and pustules, which are similar to whiteheads, but are inflamed, and appear as red circles with a white or yellow centre.

Whiteheads do not usually last long; blackheads do last a long time and pustules are what people call spots. Severe acne vulgaris is characterized by nodules and cysts. A ‘nodule’ is a much larger and more painful sort of pustule and can sometimes last for months. Nodules are large, hard lumps under the skin’s surface. They frequently result in scarring and should never be squeezed, which could cause them to last for months longer still.

A ‘cyst’ may look similar to a nodule, but it is full of pus and has been described as having a diameter of at least 5mm and, again, can cause scars and cause pain. Squeezing an acne cyst may cause a more severe infection and more acute inflammation which may last quite a lot longer than if it had not been squeezed. Skin experts have methods of reducing the swelling and preventing scarring with both nodules and cysts. It is just a myth that acne sufferers are not meticulous about washing.

In fact, over washing can irritate acne. There are many, many fake ‘cures’ on the market and many, many old wives’ remedies. However, any good skin expert would tell you that there is no sure-fire remedy for acne and that the sufferer should follow a religious regimen of cleaning until the acne just ‘disappears’ of its own accord.

Home Treatment For Urinary Tract Infection Is Here

A Urinary Tract Infection, usually known as a UTI, is an infectious bacteria that exists in a person’s urinary tract and eventually moves through the whole urinary system and infects it. Such includes the bladder, the kidneys, the urethra and the ureters. More than 3/4 of the cases are found in women.

The virulent microorganism gets through the urethral meatus and multiplies as it travels through your urinary tract toward the bladder and kidneys. Those who have this condition often experience pain and sever discomfort. This condition is usually not life-threatening if it is caught in time. You can, however, increase the danger by ignoring it and not giving it the right degree of attention. The worst cases can lead to a severe form of kidney infection known as pyelonephritis.

Symptoms of this condition include: a burning sensation while in the process of urinating, the frequent urge to urinate, passing little quantities of urine, and the appearance of urine as cloudy, milky or reddish. Indications that suggest that the kidneys have already been infected include fever, nausea, vomiting, and chilling.

Once a person is confirmed to be suffering from this condition, it is important that a doctor is seen immediately as the delay might cause irreversible harm. Antibiotics and medical attention is always the best way to deal with it. Nonetheless, there are available some other natural UTI treatments that can be applied to tackle the problem.

Cranberry juice is a common treatment for a urinary tract infection. Even in the past, cranberry juice has been used as an immediate solution to treat UTI. The medical benefit of it is that it contains a substance known as proanthocyanins. The substance inhibits the bacteria from accumulating and growing within the urinary tract. This process allows urine to be able to wash it out hence getting rid of the infection.

Cranberry juice is a tasty, effective way to prevent the disease. Research indicates regular consumption of cranberry juice lessens the probability of getting the disease.

Uva Ursi is another home UTI treatment. This infection can be treated immediately with this type of herb. This has also proven to be an effective anti-bacterial agent because it contains arbutin. It is then broken down by the body once ingested and is excreted in the kidney. There are side effects to the use of this treatment. Some include nausea, brownish colored urine, and indigestion. It is better for children and pregnant women not to take Uva Ursi as it might lead to serious complications.

Other herbal remedies for UTI include corn silk, marshmallow root, horsetail and buchu.

Home-based, do-it-yourself doctoring won’t yield the desired results that can be more readily and safely obtained by seeking professional medical treatment. People experience many complications due to urinary tract infections largely because they fail to seek medical help. Before you try home remedies to treat UTIs, you need to get an accurate diagnosis from a health care provider.

The Razor scooter is a fantastic suggestion for everybody wanting to stay healthy. These days loads of people are office-bound and we all appear to have a reduced amount of time for simply going out for a stroll, which is the age-old therapy for gaining a few pounds. The Razor scooter can assist you here.

How frequently have you said to yourself, ‘I haven’t got time to walk’ or ‘I can’t be bothered to walk’ and then have jumped in the automobile instead? But what if you had a Razor scooter handy? You could simply scooter down to the store or the park. You could take the dog for more walks and at a snappier speed too, something your dog will surely be thankful for.

The Razor A series or its bigger stablemates, the Razor Pro or Razor Cruiser, are not expensive, costing between $40 and $60, cheaper still at Amazon or eBay, yet they will soon save you hundreds of dollars on gas. After all, starting a car is usually the most expensive part of a short trip.

The Razor scooter is also very versatile. Weighing in at approximately six pounds, anybody could carry it without difficulty up or down a couple of stairs or lift it in or out of the trunk of a car. But not only that, it folds up too, so that the whole scooter is only a couple of feet long by six inches high by six inches wide. It will without difficulty fit in a passage sideboard or the boot of a car.

Your Razor scooter could be utilized in numerous ways to save you money and keep you trimmer. For example, if you need a loaf of bread, you could jump on your scooter. You could take you dog to the park. You could scooter with your kids ‘in a pack’. You could put a Razor scooter in the boot of your car and scooter the last half a mile into school. And every time you get on that scooter, you are burning not gas but fat!

Think of it that way. You are saving energy and money and burning your surplus calories at the same time. You are also exercising your legs and raising your metabolism and heart rate too. That is everything the bank manager and the doctor suggested all rolled into one . And you will be in first-class company too.

Do you know who else’s children ride Razor scooters? Well, there’s Al Pacino’s twins for a start. Now, Al Pacino is not short of a few dollars, I’m sure, so you can be assured that he’s going to be looking for the finest for his kids, isn’t he? And Lisa Kudrow and her son. And Liv and Cal, progeny of Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich. You would be forgiven for saying, ‘Aw well, they got theirs for free!’ and that may be true, but at approximately $40 who cares?

The benefits in saved motor fuel and additional exercise make the Razor scooter a must-have necessity in my eyes. So, take another look at the Razor scooter and keep in mind that someone’s birthday is coming up in a little while.
